The Shack Retreat

Not my most recent, but my most ongoing building project is The Shack Retreat.  Starting out as a small dark dilapidated cabin on a lake in Southern New Hampshire, the Shack has grown into a beautiful open-concept lake cabin and is nearing completion.

Here is the Shack in it's original form.

Over the past four year, I have put a huge amount of work into this project on weekends and evenings after work and here are a few photos of what it is now.

The sleeping  loft was the first thing that I completely finished.  It sports a beautiful panoramic view of the lake from the bed through the big casement windows in the front of the house.

Currently, the fornt of the house is trimmed on the inside, but the cedar shingle details in the peak are still waiting for my attention.  The back of the house is waiting for some TLC from me: I still need to spruce up the details of the kitchen; add window trims; tile the bathroom; and build sleeping bunks.

As it is right now, it is a beautiful little year-round getaway nestled in a private corner of a sparkling little lake.
